PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the BRRA Board meeting will be held by electronic means pursuant to Section 4-0.01(g) of Chapter 1289 of the 2020 Acts of the Virginia General Assembly and the Continuity of Government Ordinance adopted by the Board on April 13th, 2020, due to the threats posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and in accordance with the recommendations, guidelines and requirements of federal, state and local authorities.

Blue Ridge Resource Authority

In 1991, the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors created the Rockbridge County Solid Waste Authority, under the provisions of the Virginia Water and Waste Authorities Act, for the purpose of owning and operating the Rockbridge Regional Landfill.


Blue Ridge Resource Authority accepts the following items from its member localities and their citizens, municipal customers and their citizens, and commercial customers:

  • Box Springs/Mattresses and Other Bulky Items
  • Construction and Demolition Debris
  • Dead Animals
  • Dried Latex Paint
  • Electronics Recycling
  • Fluorescent Tubes (Household/Residential ONLY)
  • Furniture
  • Household Debris
  • Household Waste
  • Shingles (Asphalt and Non-Friable Asbestos, and Other Roofing Materials)
  • Tires (See Master Fee Table Below)
  • Wire and Wire Fencing
  • Yard Waste/Brush/Woody Debris


BRRA Landfill:
M-F 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM;
Sat 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM

BRRA Collection Center:
M-Sat 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM


Citizens of a member locality or municipal customer may deliver household/residential waste to BRRA free of charge at time of use. Localities may bill citizens separately for certain items delivered to BRRA. The following current rates are assessed by BRRA:

All Debit/Credit Card Transactions Will Be Subject to a 3% Convenience Fee
All Customer Accounts 30 Days Past Due Will Be Subject to an 8%

All Accounts Payable/ Receivable transactions are subject to a 3.5% + 15 Cent convenience fee


BRRA Adopt a Highway

April 20, 2020

BRRA Staff has recently adopted Landfill/ Middle Rd (Partial) and encourages local groups/ citizens who wish to participate in quarterly litter pick-ups along our newly adopted roadway, please contact our office. This would be a great opportunity for community service and environmental stewardship and gloves, bags, and vests will be provided. Any participation will be promoted on the BRRA Website.
